Metabolomics is part of the omics sciences, all the sciences that study complex biological systems and their dynamics. Metabolomics provides a precise snapshot of what is happening in the biological system by outlining all the small molecules called metabolites in tissues, biofluids and cells. Every substance we eat, and every biological factor we meet can modify our metabolites and their biochemical pathways. Through metabolomics, it is possible to understand what is happening and which scenario may emerge.
Metabolomics is, therefore, a powerful tool for revealing what we do not know and providing evidence to support what we already know.
